Oh boy, have we been busy! We've fallen a bit behind on our adoption announcements, but let's remedy that now, because we have LOTS to catch you all up on. Teddy created quite a stir with his unique looks and endearing personality. (I must admit that I schemed to sneak him into my place, but my husband believes there's such a thing as 'enough dogs'?!? Whatever.) Along came Chris though, who welcomed Teddy into his family. Now Chris already had another unusual dog of his
Lucky last foster-fail for the month was devilishly handsome Oscar. He effortlessly worked his charm on Paula and her family and they soon realised that he was there to stay. Who could resist? Happy furrytail ending, Oscar!
Lucky number 3 foster-failure for the month was blue-eyed diva, Penny. Her foster family, Peter, Fran, Kim & Adam, had been waiting patiently for a dog who would not only get along with their Malamute, Elsa, but also their cats, Daisy & Monty. So when we finally had a cat-friendly Husky that needed fostering, they put up their hands. In record time, they were quick to tell us that Penny was no longer in need of a permanent home. Happy furrytail ending, Penny!
January was a great month for ‘foster-failures’, as we averaged one foster family every week falling head over heels for their supposedly ‘temporary’ guest! First there was Gizmo, and then this cheeky looking little beggar, Rasta.
Megan originally offered to foster Rasta, after her niece adopted one of our dogs (Fanta, the amazing tripod Husky!). It didn’t take long before she and her family decided that they’d like a SHAMROQ dog of their own and Rasta became a permanent me
Whilst Akitas can have a reputation for being a little difficult (and believe us, we've definitely had a few that have tested the boundaries!), Radar blew that stereotype right out of the water. Soft-natured and affectionate, he proved himself to be a real gentleman who wouldn't dream of causing any trouble. We crossed our fingers and hoped for a special family who would do this young man justice.
Our expectations were exceeded by the McLeans. They already had a female Akit
Three cheers for Gizmo, who has waited ever-so-patiently (but not all that quietly...he is a Malamute, after all!) to be adopted. We can't say that we're all that surprised that his foster carers couldn't part with him, as to know Gizmo is to truly love him. Thank you to his previous foster Mum, Bri, for caring for him. We know that this boy will always have a place in your heart. And to his sponsor, Sharon Kuhn, who's generous contributions are truly appreciated. Congratu
Our first adoption of the year was this stunning young lady. Moscato landed on her feet not once, but twice...first with outstanding Foster Mum, Teresa and then in her amazing forever home with new Mum, Kim! The little girl who was never reclaimed from the pound is now living the dream...as a water baby who goes stand-up paddle boarding with her new Mummy. She takes her new best friend with her too - a handsome Husky boy named Foil. So if you see two Huskies out on the wat
