About Us

Mission Statement

Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Queensland Inc. is dedicated to the rescue, care, welfare and rehoming of Northern breeds, including, but not limited to, Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies, in the State of Queensland.  We provide education and ongoing support of potential adopters as to the requirements of these special breeds.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure that all Northern breeds in Queensland are given the chance to live the life they deserve.

Who We Are

Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Queensland Inc. (SHAMROQ) is a non-profit and charitable organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).  We are an all-volunteer network based and operating in the state of Queensland, to rescue, rehabilitate (where required) and rehome abandoned or unwanted Northern Breed dogs, such as, but not limited to:

  • Akitas

  • Alaskan Malamutes

  • Samoyeds

  • Shiba Inu

  • Siberian Huskies

  • Crosses of these breeds

These dogs are acquired from pounds and shelters across Queensland and placed in loving foster homes, where we get to know their personalities and what kind of home environment and family situation that they are best suited to.  During their time in care with us, we ensure that all of their vet work is up to date, which includes desexing, microchipping, vaccination, and various worming treatments.

Once a dog is ready for adoption, they get to be a star for the day whilst they have professional photographs taken by one of our network of professional photographers who generously donate their time and talent to our cause.  Those photographs along with a profile that tells you all about the dog, will be loaded onto our website and facebook page, and we will begin taking applications for adoption.

Whilst SHAMROQ is a newly formed rescue, it is made up of members with a wealth of knowledge and years of experience with rescue and rehoming of Northern breeds.  We have an established network of collaborators and supporters, details of whom can be found in our Resources section.  We like to support those who support us, so there are many links to dog-related services in this section, and these are businesses that come with our recommendation.
